The Working Class of Brivanne

The working class people of the Federation country, Brivanne, are stuck at the stratified tiers in society. The prospects of livelihood, including food, welfare, healthcare, housing, military conscription and education are entirely different to other more powerful and influential members of society as well as the middle class.
The contention with the class system in Brivanne is the reason why Duncan's family moved across the world to Taru. Working class Magi can live short lives in the military, as they are regarded less valuable than middle or upper class conscripts.
Members of the working class are born into it, and there are many cultural nuances unique to this group of people that is little understood if at all with outsiders, including an array of Brivanne dialects.

Relationship Ideals

Relationships are often seen as a partnership in life; living and facing the world together. Couples will work towards managing finances and are unlikely to afford true independency from each other, which can cause strain and stress for many households. Relationships can be a convenient way to get by, and non-romantic relationships and co-habiting is common and widely accepted.   Due to the technology of the Artificial Womb, all couples can have children and do not have to have to carry pregnancy to term. This allows couples to remain at work. The Federation affords couples one free child with the technology, and most couples will have to pay a premium rate for a second child. While pregnancy is seen as an expensive, for some working class families, they may opt to give birth to a second or third child instead, or ask a friend to help them with surrogacy.
