Taru Broadcasting Station

Taru Broadcasting Station (known locally as Tall Tower News in Taruan) is an impressive monument to free press in that it is one of the few places on Gaia not owned by a government or business association. The broadcasting station provides a rare opportunity for its audience to access potentially anti-Federation and anti-Cantari material, and is seen to represent a broad spectrum of voices and opinions from the citizens of Taru.   Regarded as 'A Seat to the People', Taru Broadcasting Station is viewed highly favourably and proudly by the Taruan people, and it is in the public interest to protect it.   Its structure as an organisation and a physical base is therefore complex and very unique.

Infrastructure

The main base of the station can be found in the centre of Taru, and is a recognisable series of blue-green glass towers that is part of the city skyline. Visitors wishing to tour the buildings can do so, but only through booking in advance and being screened for potential weapons or devices. The buildings are carefully protected not only by security, but a corridor of residential alleys, where citizens may locally play cards and 'keep an eye on things'. While outsiders who don't know much about Taruan culture may regard these places as slums, the communal style of living, open houses and sharing screens and hover-radios has created an enduring sense of security, community and togetherness.   There are several smaller outpost buildings for the station across Taru, as well as an undisclosed base outside of the country. The latter is purposed to continue to deliver news and content to its audience if there is a disruption.
Due to the attempted invasion in the War of Spears, and The Second Armada, the threat is a very real possibility. The Federation and the Cantari Empire are asserting themselves in a new Cultural War, striking each other with propaganda.
There is one secret for Patreons.
In the visual novel, you may come across news from the Taru Broadcasting Station. This will allude to upcoming events, which other students will also react to.
In Annabel's prologue, you may come across news regarding unrest in Cantari.
