Suusnail Species in Sea Hears | World Anvil

Suusnail

The Suusnail is a species that lives on the coast by The Mid-Summer Sea and benefit from human interaction, specifically by humans painting their shells with Fish Dye - Swaankoler or other specialised paints that infer minerals and vitamins. Some Magi are able to embed magic with their paint, which can help boost the snail's health and abilities, but has the added side effect of making them glow.
The snails in the world of Gaia are magic, please do not paint any living animal shells in the real world!
Suusnails are sometimes called 'Homely snails', or 'Home snails', which is the Common translation of a local Southern Island dialect called Suika. They are affectionately named as the snails are a common place along the coast and like to crawl up to special beach cabins. Locals use incense the snails can detect to encourage them to move to the beach cabins in order for volunteers to check up on them, and paint them if needed.   Suusnails are also regarded as gentle creatures, with some fans of the species arguing that they can show signs of affection and recognise their favourite painters. The suusnail diet benefits the islander locals, as they eat algae, dead plants and waste that could potentially damage the wildlife.
