Huoin Ethnicity in Sea Hears | World Anvil

Huoin

The Huoin people are an ethnic group that originated in Huodaan, which was absorbed by the Cantari Empire. Many Huoin have immigrated into the Cantari mainland and across the Cantari continent, sometimes through the Cantari Relocation Policy, which promises Huoin ethnic groups free housing and welfare support in selected locations in the mainland. Some Huoin have been concerned with the Cantari government's involvement in the country and have remained in their country despite the very difficult living conditions. The land of Huodaan is full of cracks that leak lava, and megafauna which causes the ground to shake.

Culture

Common Taboos

The mega fauna are considered sacred despite their threat to human life, and must by no means be harmed. Some Cantari soldiers have ignored this cultural taboo and have attempted to destroy the mega fauna. Huoin resistance groups retaliated through attacking the military. Cantari responded by pushing the Cantari Relocation Policy aggressively and withdrawing resource support for the Huoin people who have remained in the country.

Common Myths and Legends

A popular myth known by the Huoin people is that over a thousand years ago, a fierceness warrior struck the sky with an arrow so powerful, that it set the sky alight. This in turn reset the world and caused humanity to flee to a sea nomadic life on board the ISAAC. The Huoin people came from ancestors whose ship had been damaged by a colossal sea monster. After being stranded in a jungle drowned in spirits, the survivors followed the light which led them to Huodaan. Many belief that Huodaan is the centre of the world which has been fully reborn, with the primal elements of fire and water.   The megafauna populating Huodaan are said to be the servants of the living country, whose spirit resides in them.
