Secret Keeper

In the heart of the library I saw the shadowed figure. A cloak lining their frame all the way to the floor. I take a breath, feeling like I hadn't been able to for many moments. That's when it became clear, this was no librarian.
"Sit and speak a while." The voice from the figure shivered me straight to the bone.
It had to be one of the divine. But Destiny did not speak like this, which left one option. "I have no secrets."
"Oh but everyone has secrets, there are those that obscure themselves even from you." A wicked grin lined his face. The Secret Keeper.
— Origin
Secret Keeper is believed to have been a member of The Shattered Pantheon before The Rift. However, due to minimal texts surviving from before that time, it is unclear if they were truly a deity in their own right, or if they are just a title for another. There are some who invoke the idea of Secret Keeper to teach children the importance of secrets, both as a positive and negative part of life.

Description

There is very little written description of the Secret Keeper. They were often seen wearing a long draped cloak over their body, with a hood that caused shadows to cover most of their face. Some descriptions talk of chalk white skin and matted grey hair, while other take of skin like obsidian with no hair in sight.
Despite many conflicting descriptions, one thing remains consistent. They carried with them a book covered in metallic spikes that seemed to pierce their flesh when they tried to read from it. Cursed by their own font of knowledge. Among those that believe in the Secret Keeper's existence, many associate this book with their holy symbol, with lack of a defined one.

Worship

Much of the worship to Secret Keeper is hidden within the histories of the world. While some texts describe the ancient belief system, they themselves are a hypothesis of what actually took place. The information in this section is based on the knowledge that has been gathered so far, but some believe these to be fictitious tales of worship to an idea that is designed to scare those keeping secrets.

Tenets of the Secret Keeper

  • Covet secrets more than any knowledge. Collect them.
  • Bear the weight of pain, for the other side shall show you who you are.
  • Seek out what others try to hide, there is a reason they obscure it.
  • Observe what cannot be observed, seek what is always missing.

D'ran-Sirna

There are tales of a ritual that was led by followers of Secret Keeper known as D'ran-Sirna. During this ritual, each person would divulge a secret that would enter the Secret Keeper's library. This was meant to wash away the burden of holding onto a secret without giving it to any other living being.
Some people still attempt to practice a similar ritual to D'ran-Sirna in the modern day, but many of them find that the barrier of preventing a secret from getting out is cursed and leads to the secret being known.
