Mistborn Species in Nonvyrox | World Anvil

Mistborn

Mistborn are a sentient race of half-aberrations that originate from The Void. Mistborn are also a playable race in Nonvyrox.

Appearance

The Mistborn as a race often resemble humans with shades of skin tones that range from a light lavendar to a dark cerulean blue. Some Mistborn are granted additional boons from their aberrant parentage, yet this comes with a cost, each of these Mistborn are bestowed with an element of their parental lineage, from an additional eye in the middle of their forehead, to their mouth sprouting tentacles that cover their face.   While no two Mistborn are exactly the same, they are often the same height as a standard human, if not slightly shorter . Apart from their skin, many Mistborn are also scaled in some sense, whether these are small patches that range all around their form to a fully scaled body.

Background

The existence of half-aberrations was theorised to be possible but never confirmed until the first of the Mistborn and Mindborn were deposited into the world by their aberrant parents who had inadvertantly raised 'impure' creations.   A hive of Mistborn landed in Vilura during the cold months of 701 AR, where they learned to survive among the southern lands near Darkson. Shadow Weavers and Necromancers from Darkson travelled north into the Rydovir Peaks to discover the purpose of the strange rift that opened up in the sky and deposited a strange meteor.   The party of casters were greeted by the Mistborn and treated to a delicious meal that would end up being their last. As the dinner was completed, a low mist was cast over the dining place and each of the Mistborn strove forth and devoured the brains of these intelligent casters, sucking each dry of the raw intellect and wisdom that they had gathered over the years.   From the feast, the Mistborn were able to assertain the nature of the world they found themselves in and managed to develop their understanding of their neighbors to the south, who's magical abilities would behoove them to gather and digest into their collective. The Hive of Mistborn were able to slowly collate further magical energies until eventually their innate tie with the abberrant hive mind from which they spawned disjointed and forced these once truly connected beings to be seperated from their bretheren.   Since the species-wide seperation from their ancient ancestors, known only as The Divide among those tribal elders who remember it, some Mistborn have suceeded from their inherently evil nature. Several members of the Mistborn travel throughout the realm utilising their psionic and aberrantly granted powers for a diverse range of activities ranging from the holy and virtuous, to the evil and occult.

Properties

As a playable race, the Mistborn have several unique abilities that seperate them from other forms of creature in Nonvyrox.

Mist Form

Granted from their abberrant heritage, the Mistborn are able to change their form in the perception of this reality. Their bodies alter into a mist-like form. As a bonus action, you may change into a mist-like form, until the end of your next turn. While in this form, you are able to squeeze through spaces as small as an inch wide, and you may pass through the spaces of another creature. Your form changes back early if you take damage, make an attack, or initiate the casting of a spell.

Mind Link

Your psionic connection with the far creatures that you descend from have granted you an insight into the many beings that surround you. You may speak telepathically with a creature that is within 30 feet, you do not need to share a language but it must be able to speak at least one language to understand you.
