Blade of Eternal Sorrows

The ebony blade seemed to scream as it pierced and slashhed through the bodies of several creatures. All at once seeming to cut down both angel and devil alike. Fiends would screech as their flesh was torn asunder by the blade. Yet, there was a sombre face on the combatant, as if the pain was inflicting not only on their enemies. But also themselves.
— Verian Lora's The Shatter: A History

Verintol, the Blade of Eternal Sorrows is a Fragment of The Shatter closely linked to Alvandis and their mortal form prior to their ascension.

Description

The Blade of Eternal Sorrows is a longsword made of a deep black metal and red Cauldium. Its handle resembles a common sword, but its pommel contains a strange spike at the end of it that doesn't seem to resemble any known cerature. Embedded deep into the hitl is a gemstone that is shaped like a tear drop made of a ruby. The whole sword seems to emanante with a strange darkness that almost seems to bend and flow along with the blade as it moves through the air.

Properties

Dormant State

When its in its dormant state, the Blade of Eternal Sorrows has been known to allow a user to resist any damage they would have taken from psychic attacks. Additionally, wielders find that they are able to impose one of their saddest memories onto another creature they can see. In doing so, the creature finds themselves filled with an overflowing sadness that causes them to be stunned in place for a few moments.

Awakened State

To all current knowledge, the Blade of Eternal Sorrows has never made it to this state, so its properties currently remain unkown.

Exalted State

To all current knowledge, the Blade of Eternal Sorrows has never made it to this state, so its properties currently remain unkown.

Mythic State

To all current knowledge, the Blade of Eternal Sorrows has never made it to this state, so its properties currently remain unkown.

Sentience

Veintol has a strange form of sentience. While some may contain the spirit of a formerly living entity, the weapon seems to contain the combined pain and sorrow of every entitiy it has once killed. This had led to the weapon being full of hatred for all that choose to wield the wicked blade.   The Blade of Eternal Sorrows has a chaotic neutral sentience. However, it opposes the will of any good creature and as such is closer to chaotic evil should it be weilded by a person. Additionally, while wielded, the blade will cause suffering to the wielder. Any time the blade is used to kill an entity, its spirit is added to the sword and it lashes out at the wielder of the blade. This can inflict a heavy toll on the wielder, but can also result in them learning more about themselves through psychic memories.

History

The blade was created by a powerful mortal champion during The Shatter known as Alvandis Narishna. She consorted with another deity, though its unclear who this was. As a result, the weapon was created using a powerful material that Alvandis found and claimed had arrived from the red moon Cauldius. While being wielded by Alvandis, she was able to use the weapon to strike down followers of all of the gods with a great smile.   When Alvandis ascended to her position in The Shattered Pantheon, the weapon was to remain on earth, further empowered by Alvandis and her divine energies. The weapon was then lost within the realm at some point around the point of ascension, though there are rumours that a powerful giant found the weapon and took it on as a shortsword they could use. Aleegedly, the blade has been hidden deep within a mountain range that falls across the continent of Vilura.

Gosh, I am scared of what the blade can do in its other states, should it ever reach that...

First of all, terrifying blade, very evocative description, I hope you give it to someone who can cause problems with it. I'm excited to see what the other properties do. I also LOVE your formatting-- the different boxes make it unbelievably clear and easy to reference at a glance, without sacrificing the amount of detail you can give.
