The Nexus in Miurag | World Anvil

The Nexus

WHEN A SENTIENT DIES, WHERE DOES THEIR SOUL GO? MANY ARE THE ANSWERS AS AN ETERNAL WAR RAGES ON.

On death of the body, a soul will follow an invisible current and be pulled naturally to their final destination. Those who bargain with fiends are destined for the Nine Hells while the truly righteous ascend to the Heavens. Meanwhile, Elysium waits for the sovereign seeking peace or fervent, individual freedom, and the Abyss for those only fit to be torn apart and unmade completely.   However, many souls of Miurag have no such pull, and perhaps not even a stronger destination outside of their birthworld. For those souls who would transition into the Beyond at all, they may be guided by the Deathwalkers or drift on their own. Eventually, they will reach the Nexus or, as souls of Miurag may call it, the Greylands.   The Nexus is the central point from which immortal and mortal realms always intersect. Souls are 'reborn' as the Eidolon, their identity preserved in the strength of their Vis, their body beyond death remade with what little remains of their Vitas. From here, their journey can truly begin.   Eidolons transition through a myriad of landscapes and hazards, where the soul will be faced with what truly defines them. With that conviction alone, they may traverse to some new destination of their own will.   That is not to say even a natural system is perfect. Countless eons and influences seek to alter these base pathways of Existence. While the Greylords of the Nexus are the arbiters, their control is not absolute, and not simply because there are more than one.   But how does this central wheel relate to the other realms, when its inception is tied to the creation of all others?
