Ketro
The Ketro are a race of subterranean dwarves highly prized as slaves by both the Davrin and the Ornilleth. Physically smaller and easier to control than the Tragar, they nonetheless possess an abundance of strength and endurance to make them attractive as laborers.
General Appearance
The Ketro's grey skin is of a lighter hue than their Tragar cousins but is quite tough and prone to wrinkles. Many Ketro have a craggy appearance not unlike rough stone. They typically have black or iron grey hair, and males grow beards like other dwarven races. Their hair has never been observed to turn white with age, but it is possible that they simply do not live long enough in Sivaraus for this to occur. Their ears are rounded and rather large for the size of their heads, and their eyes have dark pupils. They possess natural Dark Sight, sensitive to sudden exposure to light, but they tend to recover more quickly from flares than Davrin.
Culture and Heritage
Nearly all Ketro currently alive belong to either Davrin Elves or Elder Minds. The Ketro had been living a tenuous existence holding out against the Flayers until the arrival of the Davrin in the Deepearth. After three thousand years of brutal enslavement, Ketro culture has been obliterated and they have forgotten their own origins.
In Sivaraus, Ketro lead short lives of backbreaking hard labor. They mine, haul, build, harvest crops, and slaughter livestock for their Davrin masters. They are not trusted with sensitive or complicated construction and not given access to private Davrin living spaces. They live and work mostly in less dense parts of the city, but also help move raw materials from one end of the Great Cavern to the other. Males and females are typically kept segregated from one another except when allowed to socialize under controlled conditions for the purposes of breeding. A female Ketro can bear a child once per turn.
The few free Ketro that exist live in small groups in remote, marginally habitable areas of the Deepearth. These Ketro live a desperate, hardscrabble existence and in constant fear of being discovered by the Davrin or the Ornilleth. The Tragar despise the Ketro for their weakness and do not acknowledge them as "true" Dwarves.
