Draconic

This article is depicting a potential future of this world. Some events in here might not have happened yet and will be changed by the actions of the players involved in this world. Until these campaigns have concluded, this article will exist in a superposition between existance and non-existance.   Some version of this article will survive, but who knows what it will be when all of this is over

The language of the dragons, the voice of magic and probably the first script ever created. Draconic is older than anyone can remember or even imagine. The dragons themselves claim that their language is even older than the gods. But no matter if that's true or not, draconic is the language of magic. You might not realize it when learning your spells, but they all are based on ancient draconic words or phrases. Some people would even go as far as saying that draconic is the language of the universe, and should somebody fully understand its workings they could control the fabric of reality itself.

Dialects and Variations

Most language form different dialects and variations over time, but even after being around for millennia, draconic changed little at all. There might exist slight differences in pronunciation from region to region, or minor changes that happened over time, but somebody from thousands of years ago could easily understand people speaking draconic today.

Sound and Phonology

Draconic is a language with hard consonants and many hissing and growling sounds. Compared to other languages it often sounds harsh and unpolished, but the language itself is highly logical and efficient. It follows a logical structure and a complicated grammar, which allows it to convey a lot of meaning in a very short amount of time. Draconic is rather hard to learn, but once you have understood the many principals of the language, it's quite easy and straightforward to understand.

The Language of Magic

All arcane incantations are based on Draconic. Even if the exact meaning of some used words and phrases has been lost over time, the root in the language is clearly noticeable. The art of creating new spells, either requires a deep understanding of Draconic and combining different words and phrases in a new way, or have an instinctive feeling for the flow of magic in the world and force it to create an effect that is not directly described within the incantation.
