Church of Glittergold
The creator of the gnomes also, naturally, mostly have gnomish followers. However, they aren't the only ones, as jesters and many other tricksters look up to Garl Glittergold. Worshippers take great pride in the fact that they are less serious-minded than many other churches. Sermons are often filled with jokes and are intended to be more interesting than lecturing.
Structure
There are several different churches dedicated to Garl, often tied to the geographical area of a nation or group of allied cities. But the churches mostly get along with each other. Within each church, there is someone in charge of the entire organisation - often known as a cardinal. Each temple is then managed by a high priest who oversees the other priests.
Ethics
While it is essential to take those who take themselves too seriously down a peg or two, the church is very strict on the fact that no one should ever be seriously hurt if it can be avoided. This goes for emotional injury as well as physical. Trickery is there to keep everyone on their toes and make life more enjoyable - not to destroy anyone's life. Charlatans who trick people out of money sometimes pray to Garl for forgiveness because they had to do it to survive.
Another critical aspect encouraged by the church is constant curiosity. To stay too safe is sometimes looked down upon, but the interest doesn't have to be something dangerous. Finding fascination with gems is at least as valid as going adventuring.
Worship
While congregating in groups for sermons in well-decorated churches is strongly encouraged, worshippers can find room for their dedication anywhere. Most carry some form of gem or precious metal with them. Or at least something that looks like one of those the untrained eye. This acts as a reminder of the god's presence.
