A few things you'll notice in Liminal Chronicles.
Magic runs on ki
It's the energy that flows through all things. In Liminal Chronicles magic users have a well/collection point that has a capacity, which can grow but is limited to the type of magic the user has. Humans aren't born with the well opened. They have to break through in magic and open the ki collection point. Yokai, powerful spirit beings, are born with it open and have more magic capacity.
--The paranormal:: It's all around you. The Kami and yokai are everywhere, but you won't necessarily see it unless you're a magic user or the beings or magic choose to make themselves known to you.

Inspiration
The world of Liminal Chronicles brings in and builds on Japanese mythology and folklore. While this setting does not represent "actual Japan", the author does her best to respect and show her love for the Japanese culture in this "world". Departures from Folklore and Culture describes where the author has chosen to deviate from real world Japan to create Liminal Chronicles.
