Ganymede Cavendish
Ganymede Cavendish grew up in the Aeginan Home for Children, a Hellenistic orphanage in London. Acquired at the age of six, he was renamed Ganymede Cavendish, owing to the fact that even at that young age he was considered to be a child who would be blessed with good looks, and as he grew older, he was very popular amongst the Aeginan Home's various patrons.
Unlike many other children, he was not selected by any particular patron to sponsor themselves, and was instead given some gifts and favours by several of them: at the age of nineteen, rather than moving toward a career or a vocation as many others would at his age, he was sponsored by Kori Asimi to apply for the Royal Academy of Arts, where he completed a period of schooling over three years.
Ganymede Cavendish is frequently described as variations of beautiful and handsome. It is difficult for anyone to meet him and not comment on it, let alone notice it.
(Letters from Ganymede) At the age of 22, an anonymous benefactor who revealed himself to Ganymede only as Mr John Smith paid for Ganymede to move to the north of England in order to better focus on his art there, footing the bill for his room and board, food and clothing, and art supplies. Mr Smith's only requirement was that Ganymede write to him at least once a week, keeping him apprised of his progress.
