Properties

Material Characteristics

The mesertine is a colourful crystal with a spiral, stair-stepped structure. Before the appareance of magic, this crystal was mostly grayish with some blue tones. After the appareance, its colours depends on the magic.
When imbued with magic, the crystal's grayish colour will change to another colour. If there is a prominent magic on it, it will be coloured with the colour that represents that magic. If there is not a prominent magic, the crystal will keep the grayish colour but will display a great varity of other colours as well.
While not every colour is understood or discovered, this are the known nowadays:
  • Orange: fire magic related
  • Pale white: healing magic related
  • Dark blue: water magic related
  • Light blue: ice magic related
  • Brown: earth magic related
Crystals with green, black, yellow, pink, purple, cyan, and others (including a single rare mesertine multicoloured) have been found, but are yet to be understood.

Physical & Chemical Properties

Each crystal has a different property, based on its colour (as it indicates which magic resides on it). From warm crystals with fire properties, to cool crystals with water properties, they are not all known, only a few are discovered.

Geology & Geography

Located mostly in caves underground, this crystal has been seen all around Branul and in some places of Emea, all located in the earth level. There are a few places where mesertine has been found outside the earth level, but it is considered rare to find them in places like that.

History & Usage

History

Mesertine has never been a valuable crystal, its gray colour has made it not a good jewel crystal and thus, it was never really used. After the magic being imbued in them (50 years ago), they have became important, mostly for research and magic related utilities.

Weirdly, my favourite thing about this is that apparently the crystal has a salty taste :D   Great idea - I love that the crystal shimmers differently depending on the magic that is contained within.
