Chapter 12 PRAYER AND THE EXERCISE OF AUTHORITY

For the most part humans have infant spirits, and so, because of this, prayer is the primary mechanism by which they can effect a change in their area of the SUPOX. Prayer to God, especially when in alignment with the word of God, is heard by God and brings angels into assignment.

Cornelius stared at him in fear. “What is it, Lord?” he asked. The Angel answered, “Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God.” ACTS 10:4 NIV

…the Angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.” LUKE 1:13 NIV

A human with a mature spirit and fully intertwined with the Holy Spirit, does not need prayer or the help of angels to effect a change in the SUPOX. They simply issue the command, and it will come into effect.

Peter, fastening his eyes on him, with John, said, “Look at us.” He listened to them, expecting to receive something from them. But Peter said, “I have no silver or gold, but what I have, that I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, get up and walk!” He took him by the right hand and raised him up. Immediately his feet and his ankle bones received strength. Leaping up, he stood and began to walk. He entered with them into the temple, walking, leaping, and praising God. ACTS 3:4-8 WEB

“I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” MATTHEW 17:32 NLT

Exercising authority in the SUPOX as it relates to an individual only depends on that individual. In so far as they have not assigned their authority to somebody else, they are able to exert control over their own area of the SUPOX. Exerting control of the SUPOX as it relates to a group of people, however, is an entirely different matter. At the group level it requires consensus. Dominion and authority, as we have discussed, was given to Mankind collectively. Exercising authority in the SUPOX as it relates to a family, a town, or even a nation depends on the degree to which its people are in unity. Unity unshackles God-given authority in all its fullness, either for good or evil.

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. 1 PETER 3:7 NIV

God gave Mankind this authority, a gift inseparable from that of free will, and he will not contradict it. The collective will for good or evil is the ultimate factor determining what unfolds in the SUPOX.

And because of their unbelief, he [Jesus] couldn’t do any miracles among them except to place his hands on a few sick people and heal them. MARK 6:5 NLT

This being said, it only takes unity among a small group of people who are fully intertwined with the Holy Spirit to exert extraordinary and disproportionate power in the SUPOX. The presence of the Holy Spirit is a force multiplier, one that should never be underestimated.

Each one of you will put to flight a thousand of the enemy, for the Lord your God fights for you, just as he has promised. JOSHUA 23:10
