The Iljrain will Guide the Calri
The Iljrain are the Emperor's personal trainers and sparring partners. Though subservient to him, Ikiini respects their opinions. There up to thirty of them at any given time. They are responsible for training Ikiini's heir, Jenna Darkwing and the teachers of Darkwing Academy.
Career
Qualifications
An Iljrain must have mastered Ka'Huun, Ka'Thiem, and either Ta'Falia or Ga'Tharai Shol. Any more than this is just a method of boasting.
Career Progression
A Calri must attend Darkwing Academy and rise to the level of a Calri Royal Guardsman or Council Guard for the Calri High Command. After this if the Tirin Emperor approves in a formal ceremony called @The Iljrain Reflection, they will study directly under a senior Iljrain until their training is complete.
Payment & Reimbursement
The Iljrain receive a stipend of Falrinite of their choice each day free of charge and a supply of Falrinite of each type at the start of each month.
Other Benefits
As the trainers of the teachers of Darkwing Academy the Iljrain are respected and feared. While a royal guardsman might have one or two Shol Schools that they specialize in, an Iljrain masters a minimum of three and they rarely stop there. At any social function they might attend they are valued as the third highest profession in the Empire with the Emperor and Calri High Command filling the higher positions.
Perception
Purpose
In addition to education, they preside over certain religious ceremonies. These often involve appointing a Calri to a new office or the induction of a Royal Guardsman, if approved to do so by Ikiini.
Social Status
Only those who seek to become an Iljrain or plot their demise bother thinking about them. The commoners rarely interact with any Iljrain save perhaps as a victim of happenstance.

Only Calri can become an Iljrain and most are Nazdrian Calri.
History
At first there were only four Iljrain when Ikiini took power. The expansion of the empire necesitated more trainers for Darkwing Academy and for some Iljrain to travel to other continents to train the Calri there.

Tools
The Iljrain use Loyalty Staffs, but they also carry Shol Exo Armor Suits and Ga'Tharai rings.
Materials
As trainers they often have books and recordings for teaching and weapons for sparring. Falrinite is a foregone conclusion. An Iljrain without it is in a truly dire situation.
Workplace
Most Iljrain workplaces are in the various classrooms of Darkwing Academy. The Iljrain are flexible in skill and can teach a class anywhere.

Whenever they spar with a teacher at Darkwing academy they provide a variety of combat styles for them to learn and also educate the best of the best in Shol.
Dangers & Hazards
While rare, it is possible for a particularly dangerous rebel or extremely ambitious Calri to seek out and murder an Iljrain. Convenient 'accidents' are always in the mind of a wary Iljrain. Rarer still, a Iljrain could botch a Shol spell and kill themselves with it.

This role is highly coveted and difficult to achieve. Ikiini is very careful in his selections.
Legality
Iljrain act on the Emperor's authority. They have extreme independence in that role to act as they see fit. They cannot command The Calri High Command or Ikiini's heir unless they have written permission from him.
