The Strain of The Sacred Rites

Let us share in forbidden fruit. Have you tasted the blood of gods?

There are many cults scattered about history that worshipped blood and all things related to it. Some claimed a divine being as the object of their devotion, some long forgotten god or goddess that grants them their gifts. Others chose the Titans or domains to worship. Some simply worship blood alone and care not about its source. Regardless, these religious movements are the main source of the theological connotations in Arcana Sanguis.

Regardless of the object of worship, the power of blood comes from one being and one domain: The Red Maiden, the sole titan of the Wetworks. The red maiden has no problem sharing her worship. She knows that she has the true power. She allowed her cults to worship who they pleased, for she loved them more than they could ever know. They detailed The Strain of Sacred rites. Many did so without mention of her and her domain. They carved these principals in their own flesh with delicate needles allowing for a most elegant script. The text told of powers hidden in different kinds of blood. Each is considered an exotic medium, and many go to great lengths to obtain it.

Eldritch Truths

Practitioners who use this strain gain quite a bit of insight into the nature of blood. They understand that there are different kinds of blood and not all forms are created equal. The beings of the wetworks actually trade in blood offering their own blood in exchange for services of practitioners.
It was this that started a quest to search for all forms of blood and learn of their unique qualities. They gain a higher understanding of reality when they consume this blood as the rush of visions grant then unfathomable truths.

Stigmata

Stigmata occurs when a practitioner of this strain gains the favor of the wetworks. The domain opens up to them and gives the caster it's blessing. When harvesting, a user has a chance to open reality to the wetworks, allowing them to gather large quantities of blood for their spells. These gateways always appear as dripping and flowing wounds if the source is the caster, ally, or enemy, and a large pool of blood for any other source.

System Rules
When harvesting resources and gaining a critical success, a gateway opens within the resource to the wetworks.
If this occurs, the resource pool never runs out until after the encounter and the player rolls 2d20 instead of the initial roll when harvesting. Every time a harvest occurs, the player rolls another d20 and a random effect occurs on the following table
