The Knightsforge

A Strange Craft

The Knightsforge is a lost piece of technology that disappeared from Lartasia almost four hundred years before the departure of Expedition Demeter. The forge stood as the first and only method of creating the armor worn by The Freehold Knights. The methods of production and the art required to complete it are lost to time, but the impact of its creation can be seen all over The Freeholds. The knights stumble across its many creations on occasion, and are able to adapt and fuse the artifacts to their own armor.

The Forge

The forge itself was a large building measuring 30 feet in length, 30 feet in width, and about 20 feet in height. The building was a workshop where the smiths could work with plenty of space. The nobles of the Freeholds payed them well for their weapons of war. The workshop had the finest tools, a stockpile of materials, and a rack in the center for the careful assembly of each suit of armor.

Location

Many believe The Knightsforge to be somewhere along the border of Lartasia and The Freeholds. This would explain why so many of its creations can be found lying around in the wilds of both regions. Its exact location is a mystery, however.

Boons and Baubles

On top of making the suits of armor, the smiths of the Knightsforge also created many modular attachments that are heavily sought after by all Freehold Knights.

The Process

While none know the process of making these wonders, the following general details sum up the process... in all its horror.

Spoilers to a potential RPG encounter
The process begins simply enough. The armor must be forged. Each piece is hand crafted with the utmost of care. These pieces are bound together, leaving room for the wearer inside. The armor can be significantly taller than the average wearer. The armor is then bathed in the waters only found in aread polluted by Universal Mania. The waters coat the armor, and imbue it with strength.

While the armor marinates in the water, the craftsmen work on the enchantments and the complex mechanisms that gift the wearer speed and freedom of movement. They then line the interior with padding and straps made from leather and plant fiber harvested from manic land. This is to protect the wearer and the mechanisms within.

The final piece of the puzzle is the one few could stomach. There is a reason each suit of armor seems to have its own personality. The smiths graft a living and often unwilling person's essence of life onto the armor. The process is brutal, painful, and in most parts of the world, profane.
