The Bascar

Scourge of the seas

Once a large and powerful merfolk culture that helped to topple the Mareni Empire, the Bascar have faded into history. Remnants of their civilisation lay scattered around the Sinien Ocean where they made their home, and Bascar blood runs in the veins of no small amount of merfolk across the seas.   They had a reputation for ferocity and conquest, though also generally left alive the civilians of other cultures if they agreed to follow the new leader and laws.   One of the most striking relics of their culture is a large obelisk in the city of Erevenor, erected after the Bascar claimed the city from the hands of the Maren in 3184 EA.

Mostly the fact they spread themselves too thin, and slowly became a bunch of other cultures.
