Meridan

The last port

This article is a stub. Please comment if you would like it to become a priority for expansion.
The city of Meridan is a busy port on the northeastern coast of Eshua. It has a permanent population of around thirty thousand people, though at any one time it will contain about two thousand transient inhabitants, including sailors, merchants, and tourists. It is the last large harbour before ships have to tackle the Circle, an expansive stretch of unfathomably deep ocean.   Like all Eshuan cities, Meridan is surrounded by a high wall for defensive purposes. Meridan's wall also encloses its harbour, leaving a gap just large enough for a relatively large ship to pass through. The buildings in Meridan are built from a mixture of sandstone and wood. All of them are painted, mostly in earthy tones such as red and orange.

Sounds like this will be one of the most important ports, if it's the last good one before the big stretch, unless few ships dare cross the Circle. How common is traffic across there?

It's a very busy port, but 99.9% of people go the long way around the Circle instead of across it. So it's even more important, considering that probably adds days to a journey.
