Dacren

Reborn from the ashes

Dacren is a large settlement in the country of Caillah, located on its fertile northeastern plains. It used to be the capital city, until 3387 EA when it was mostly burnt down by what is now known as the Great Fire. Said to be due to the divine wrath of the Mother, the fire was seen as a punishment for not properly following the tenets of the Faith. In the aftermath, the capital was moved northwest to Codura, and Dacren was left ruined and desolate. Only a few people remained, the poorest with nowhere else to go.   Over the centuries, Dacren had been rebuilt into a thriving town. The town is surrounded by the ruins of the old settlement, the blackened stone both a reminder and a warning to the people who live there. Some believe there may be treasure hidden under the town, in some forgotten ruined chambers.

I wonder what they will find when someone digs below the city - a lot of towns that were destroyed and then rebuilt over the ruins have buried passages and chambers that might contain anything. Makes a great plothook.

Yeah, I think there are probably some hidden things down under the city for sure.

Building directly over the burned city is a bold choice! I'd imagine that comes with some unique challenges of it's own.

I'm sure more than one person has fallen through the ground into old parts of the town. XD
