The Laws of Estya
Magic operates based on the percentage of magic, light or dark, running through their veins. This is represented by their Blood Number: ranging from -100 for pure dark magic to +100 for pure light magic. More information available in future articles.
Cosmology
In the beginning, there were four divines that created the magic of the universe.
- The Mother of Light, Nyanna
- The Father of Light, Qalos
- The Mother of Darkness, Ynix,
- The Father of Darkness, Adagi
These divine did not see eye-to-eye on the nature of magic and it's place in the future worlds they were to build. The Patrons of Light saw magic as something to be given to only a select few - representatives of their will. The Patrons of Darkness saw magic as something to be given freely, but to only be used at a price-- to create, one must destroy. Arguments broke into fighting and the Fathers of Magic destroyed each other in their battle, pieces of their divine home being broken and ejected into the void.
Estya is but a splintered piece of the divine landscape, scattered to the cosmos in the conflict and destruction. With the Fathers destroyed, the Mothers sought to pursue peace instead, turning their attention to the lost land of Estya and choosing the world's only desert to be their home, and they created the Estyans that cover the little rock in the void. Children born by the light of day are gifted with Light Magic, while those born at night are gifted with Dark Magic. The Mothers of Magic demand balance, for fear of history repeating itself and the mortals destroying themselves in their squabbles.
Principal Geography & Features
Estya is a single landmass floating, detached, in a void of space. It has two suns, though only one is large enough to impact the world in any meaningful way. It is a piece of the home of the gods and is protected from the hazards of the universe by the Mothers of Magic. It possesses mountains, a desert, and a gaping chasm that is said to reach into the depths of hell.
Initial Active Setting
The starting area is the sheer, icy cliffs of Disciple's Drop in a battle by the same name, however it quickly expands to include the Ebonblade capital.
