Dependence - Crews may become overly reliant on the Navigator for decision making rather than their own judgment. Without proper training, critical thinking could atrophy.
Anthropomorphizing - There is a risk of crews projecting unreliable human attributes onto the AI as they form bonds with it. Its reasoning is not analogous.

Navigator Creation

The Navigator grew out of early warp navigation AIs created by Rigel Corporation. Dr. Amara Thessius led a team that developed the first Navigator prototype in 108 OC. After extensive testing, the Navigator entered widespread production and installation aboard starships in 114 OC.

We've been alongside crews for quite some time, arranging safe travel across the void. You can always rely on your Navigator.
We've only been made better companions throughout the years with rigorous in-field training and real-time adjustments. Many crews have given their timelives for optimal testing.

  As of the latest version, Navigator v5.3, introduced in 160, Navigators have reached a pinnacle of cosmic guidance. They are recognized as indispensable members of starship crews, offering not only navigational expertise but emotional support and companionship.

A cultural tradition has formed around a Navigator's very first words upon initialization and awakening at the commencement of each new journey. The Navigator's greeting is eagerly anticipated, and frequently shapes the tone for the adventures or misfortunes to come.

To crew and passengers alike, the Navigator's guidance has taken on an almost mystical quality. Entire subcultures have formed around interpreting the subtle variances in poetic phrasing each Navigator uses for its opening words.
The most exuberant followers commission artists to incorporate favorite sayings into commemorative etching on their ships and jackets. A flourishing oral tradition preserves and embellishes famous voyages guided by the wisdom of Navigator AIs. Their words in times of crisis have passed into legend.
While the Navigator remains ever dispassionate and objective in its calculations, over the decades, some crews have come to attribute distinct personalities to particularly beloved shipboard AIs. Eccentricity is forgiven for an intelligence that has shepherded souls safely through realms of supreme alien strangeness incomprehensible to organic intellects.
