Temilian Myth in Dromaria | World Anvil

Temilian

"I'm telling you I am Temilian. I'll prove it to you. Tell me where you want to go and I'll take you there. Anywhere you have ever wanted. Ever wonder what the elves get up to in Lainathia? Wanna see where I kissed Vale?   While we're at it, say we take the scenic route? There's a few spots along the way I'm sure you'd love to see. Trust me, it's all part of the journey."

Description

Temilian, hailed as 'The Navigator', holds a place of high reverence in Dromaria's religions. His sphere of influence extends over halflings, rest, and travel, and is a prevalent figure across tales from every age. Lauded as a steadfast ally, an unyielding warrior, and a perilous guide, his legendary feats are as varied as they are impressive. They span from guiding the Ancestors to their newfound home in Dromaria, to standing shoulder to shoulder with the mightiest heroes during the transformative Age of Horror.   Instead of spotlighting his own achievements, stories about Temilian emphasize the triumphs of his companions. Even so, Temilian's presence is ever-present, attributed to his unwavering care, steadfast support during friend's most challenging moments, and a remarkable aptitude for navigating any situation with bravery. He forever commemorates the lives of those he has lost, a testament to his bonds and his role as the ultimate friend, companion, and guide.

Modern Depiction

Temilian is consistently portrayed with a similar likeness, a youthful-looking halfling man either lounging or performing his heroic deeds. In Lothoren's depictions, he often appears as a fully armored knight, typically immersed in fierce combat, but when associated with the goddess Vale he is sometimes shown as a handsome lover.   In contrast, those who choose to follow Temilian directly, portray him as a small, hooded traveler, embodying the idea that anyone could walk in his shoes. His name is a common feature in towns and cities, with many roads bearing his moniker. It's also customary for many inns to maintain a small pile of stones near their entrance. Visitors often contribute a stone from their homeland to this pile, a tribute to Temilian symbolizing that wherever they travel, home is always with them.
