All Controllers are children born after The Lapse. The cause of their abilities is related to brain tumors but generally remains a mystery. They are rigorously sought by the Conglomerates early on, and in most cases end up mainly working for them.
Controllers can bend reality, entering the minds of whoever they wish to manipulate. This mutation is considered to be the most dangerous of all, as it is almost impossible to escape their control. They are also known to be capable of telekinesis, but this occurrence is rare and used only by a powerful few.
As children, they develop a distinct marking on the back of their heads, which is easy to spot in the event of a thorough frisk. Lower Caste families often offer their marked children to the Divine Light to avoid losing them to the Conglomerates, or even worse the
Syndicates, who would kill to have a Controller in their ranks.
Special schools have been created by the Families, so the Controller children can be molded to become emotionless agents of the System. When they graduate, they enter the ranks of the Proud, as their Order is called.
Controllers eventually die from the tumors growing inside their brain. They become extremely powerful in their last days and, more often than not, they are put to death by their employers in fear of turning against them.
