Framework
The framework determines within which framework and with which structures the world will move. For most people, this article will be rather uninteresting, but for me, it serves as a permanent reference, to which I will return if necessary.
Genre
Calyria does not follow a fixed genre but is designed as a genre blend from the beginning. The genres from which elements flow into the world are above all:
- Urban Fantasy
- Cyberpunk
- Gothic Punk
- Adult
Various other genres can be incorporated into the work, but should not constitute the main part of the world.
Theme
There will be two major themes for Calyria. These will hopefully shine through the whole world:

Mood
To determine the mood of Calyria, I took the scale from bright to dark and from noble to grim, known from the Warhammer 40k universe. On this scale, Calyria will fit right into the to range.
Scope
This part of the framework was the hardest for me. Although I would like to work out the whole world in as much detail as possible, this is neither useful nor feasible. That's why I decided that the whole world should be worked out, but for the beginning, three big cities should serve as focus points for stories and games.
Sequence
Since Calyria is an Alternative Earth, certain historical events are fixed. These are also maintained and enriched with various other events. The important period, which is worked out much deeper for the beginning, lies however between , where 2029 describes the present on Calyria.
Point of View
The main portion of this world will be written from a neutral perspective, with parts of personal views from Sheila, a native character from Calyria.
Map Borders and Focus Points
The map will cover the whole planet, while there will be three focus points, to begin with. The first one is Nuremberg, a German city. The second one will be London, the capital of Great Britain. The third one will be an American city, either San Francisco or Los Angeles.
