Honorable Sir,
Thank you for your interest regarding my research, it is an honor to receive correspondence from such a honorable man as you.
Let me assure you and your Court that the deadly explosions that happened near my laboratory were not caused by my research. On the other hand, the explosions that took place near your palace (and, God be blessed, didn't kill anyone) were an accident, but I take full responsibility for them. However, as I'm sure you are aware, I am under scholastic immunity as long as there are no significant damages made to people or private property.
I appreciate the wording of your request, but I'm afraid I will not comply. While I have great appreciation for your family and yourself, my research is just that: mine. When I am ready, I will share it publicly, but I will not allow it to be subordinated to political power. I'm sure I don't need to remind you that my scholastic immunity also prevents you from ordering me to hand over my research.
Thank you again for your letter, and I hope you will find my answer agreeable.

I love Ona. I bet the king wasn't too happy with that answer.
Eh, he's used to it at this point lol. The king has political power, but it's not absolute power. With most things, he can also politely request (or veto), but not order.
