Mortavian Sky Galleon Vehicle in Baeleris | World Anvil

Mortavian Sky Galleon

As you reach the outer corners of Ravenspire, every little hair on your arm raises, while the arcane energy, filling the air, brushes over you. You hear the humming and clonking of arcane engines, slowing down or taking up speed. Your eyes follow the slender, graceful lines of a tower, just outside the city, and up to the sky. Then you see... her.

The giant airship slowly lowers its sails as it glides gracefully between the port's towers. Slowly and majestically it approaches its berth and then moors there. Even now hibernated, the machines keep running to feed the spells. Spells that allow these majestic vehicles to defy gravity.

The Mortavial Sky Galleon is an airship that's specifically designed to be able to fly and sail on water like an ordinary ship would. Today, they are common all over the continent of Mortavia, and allow people to traverse vast distances and transport goods between far-flung regions of the continent.

How it Looks

The Mortavian Sky Galleon is often reminiscent of the usual sailing vessels used by both navies and trade. The ships have massive sails reinforced with magic and an additional arcane drive, which is mainly responsible for the ability to fly.

The design of the ships is often extremely magnificent and offers a good overview of the craftsmanship that is widespread in Mortavia. The hull itself is constructed of sturdy dark woods and various - often enchanted - alloys that allow it to withstand both salt water and the air.

The Mortavian Sky Galleons usually have multiple decks, which allow for an even distribution of cargo as well as the necessary comfort for passengers and crew.

The Power to Fly

When deployed on water, the Sky Galleon relies on its sails to propel itself forward. In the air, the sails are primarily used to direct the airship's direction, while propulsion and lift are provided by the Arcane Engines fitted to each Sky Galleon.

Although the sky galleon can also be used on water, this is rarely the case. A traditional three-master is typically used to transport goods by water. The reason for this is also the personnel costs, which are significantly higher for sky sailors than for their equivalent at sea.

Why just ship goods, when you can ship goods in style? Nicely done and I do love this header. <3
