Introduction to Baeleris

Welcome to Baeleris, a world of ancient legends and lost stories. Here, where gloom reigns and magic flows through every vein, a fascinating realm is revealed, marked by gothic horror and breathtaking fantasy. But be warned, for not only secrets lurk in the shadows, but also conflicts between disparate forces. Enter this dark world and discover the mystery of Baeleris, where the boundaries between reality and fiction blur and the unexpected lurks around every corner.

Geography of Baeleris

Mortavia is located in the east of Baeleris and features a bleak landscape, dotted with majestic mountain ranges, deep swamps, bogs, and impenetrable forests. The region is marked by a harsh climate, with long, bitterly cold winters and short but often sultry summers. Dark creatures and shadowy beings dwell here, lurking in the forests and snow-capped peaks.

Mechanika stretches to the north of Baeleris and is characterized by a surreal mix of high-tech cities and gloomy factory landscapes. The region is covered in continuous smog that barely allows the sun to penetrate. Geographic features include vast, oil-soaked deserts and countless steaming geysers. Strange machine creatures and mysterious apparatus exist here, bathing the land in an ominous glow.

Aetheria, located in the west of Baeleris, is characterized by a fascination for weightlessness and floating islands. Dense, majestic forests, towering mountains, and mighty waterfalls dominate here. Aetheria is known for its mild, often misty climate, which creates a mysterious atmosphere. The floating islands provide a habitat for exotic creatures and magical beings, while ancient temples and shrines touch the sky. Aetherite Crystals, one of the world's magical resources, are found here in abundance, making Aetheria a center for power and intrigue.

Ancestries of Baeleris

Although Baeleris can use D&D 5e as a game system in addition to Pathfinder Second Edition, I list the playable species here as Ancestries. Most of these playable species were converted for Baeleris.

Dwarf

Dwarves can be found on all continents of Baeleris, although legends say that they originally came from the mountains of Mortavia. At least the oldest dwarven cities in the world can be found below the Ebonpeak Mountains.

Elf

Elves are native to Aetheria, but have spread throughout Baeleris over the millennia. Today, elves live in every region of the world, settling wherever they please. However, elven cities can only be found on Aetheria, but other cities often have elven quarters.

Gnome

Gnomes are especially prevalent on Mechanika, where they develop and maintain technological achievements. It was only during the Second Age that they began to spread across the rest of the world.

Goblin

Goblins appear all over the world - and have a highly dubious reputation all over the world. They are considered simple creatures, with an unhealthy penchant for violence and for eating their fallen enemies.

Halfling

Halflings, known as the "Hearthlings," are a small heritage on Baeleris. They thrive in the comfort of their cozy homes, excelling in culinary arts, craftsmanship, and a strong sense of community - everywhere in the world of Baeleris.

Human

The humans of Baeleris, known as the "Mortals," are a diverse and resilient people. They inhabit all continents, from the dark and haunted lands of Mortavia, to the steampunk wonders of Mechanika, and the mystical Aetheria.

Vampire

The enigmatic vampires of Baeleris, known as "Bloodlords," dwell in the shadowy corners of Mortavia. These immortal beings embrace the dark arts and intrigue, ruling over cities with a thirst for power and blood.

Werewolf

The werewolves of Baeleris find their home in the shadowy realm of Mortavia. Amongst the misty moors and dark forests, they embrace their dual nature under the watchful eye of Nocturna.
