Kotu
Kotu is the Nisoyal of Corporeality. Although corporeality applies to everything we can touch, even our very bodies, its consciousness has a strong preference for untamed natural environments rather than agricultural or otherwise populated areas.
Unlike its compatriots, Fari and Velu, Kotu is incapable of leaving no trace of its existence even if it wanted to. Wherever it wanders, it leaves pure, concentrated spiritual energy behind it. This spiritual energy condenses into what we know today as Vimstones, the material which powers our magitechnology today.
If you've ever wandered the forests of the Kotuye Continent on the planet of Aravu and found random shards of nascent vimstones, you've likely wandered onto the path of Kotu. There's no telling how old the trail is. Still, remember to pay your respects. And if you find happen to find Kotu itself, remember two things: 1) leave it alone and 2) report where you found it to a member of the Ezekoru.
Eugh. Responsibilities. After every gathering of the Ezekoru, Chamu feels the urge to reinforce their nomadic nature. They will cancel meetings, wander off into the woods for a few days except to check in on their duck flock, and return like nothing happened. This gathering, however, was especially trying. They cancel all responsibilities for the next few weeks. They schedule a caretaker for their ducks. They grab their bag and step into the forest for an old fashioned wander. When they finally find a trail of nascent vimstones, Chamu leaves the stones be but follows them for miles. Days pass. Weeks pass. Towards the end of their journey, Chamu swears that something is throwing leaf litter at them, with the occasional branch or pebble thrown in for good measure. Suddenly, at a clearing, the trail of vimstone shards stops and instead, becomes a pile. Chamu braces themself and steps into the clearing. They immediately feel sick, like they had so many years before. Instead of turning around in fear, they persist. The spiritual energy is so thick, they can hardly breathe. Are they walking, or swimming? Time itself seems to bend. Absent any other idea of what to do now that they've accomplished their goal, they kneel before the pile.
A few months later, Chamu pays a special visit to Ezeki, the first other Yashelin it had spoken to in months. "I found Kotu." "Chamu, where have you been?! You look--!" Ezeki exclaims, worried mother hen first and listening second, but it reins itself back in as it processes their words. "You found?!... Kotu? Kotu, Chamu?" "Kotu, Ezeki," Chamu confirms, wincing while Ezeki pulls a twig or five out of their feathers. "I told it, ow, I told it that we knew about, ow, it now. It said hello." Spelled poorly in vimstone shards on the ground, but still. "Also, Kotu told me to--ow!--fuck off!" Ezeki scowls mightily at Chamu, "Absolutely not, Chamu. You're filthy!" "Ah, n-no! Not you! Kotu told me to fuck off!"
*Eugh. Responsibilties.* Great opener. Great writing. XD
Haha, thank you! :D
