Osonia Meiavaris

Osonia Meiavaris (a.k.a. Osonia, Mystic of Akroma)

When listing the great mages of all time Osonia Meiavaris is always one at the top. Making it through all 10 levels of Ridweth in back to back semesters, the wizard learned faster than some of the masters of the institute. She is the last known person to invoke the clause of mentorship at Ridweth, taking schooling beyond the standard levels.   A resident of Akroma, the incursion did not reach her homeland for some time. While at Ridweth, a message arrived from a man named Brisit Greyshore who at the time was not well known. He called for the Institute to send every combat capable mage they had to the front lines on Ionin. When the current headmaster was teleported to Brisit to converse, he returned almost at once and went through with the orders. Osonia, being one of the most powerful mages at the school, was chosen to help lead the caster to war.   The magic from Ridweth and the other schools that answered the call proved irreplaceable. There were combat mages in the countries that had committed, but never this many from one location. After fighting along side Brisit in her first major battle, Osonia was promoted to General on the spot. She would go on to lead the arcane casters for the rest of the war.   Many years into the conflict it was decided that unless the portal to the Great Old One’s dimension was closed they would never win the war. Osonia was pulled off of combat duty to research what could be done in the labs at Ridweth.   It took more than a year before a solution was devised. By this point moral was at an all time low, and Osonia was desperate. Using an amplified scrying spell she looked into the camps of every enemy and even to where the Great Old One himself was. While she learned what had to be done, gazing upon the leader of the monstrosities cost Osonia her sight.   Small groups were chosen to help acquire the items needed for closing the portal. They had to acquire the items from the ranks of the Titans that were linking them to the portal. These missions were considered suicide, but many singed up none the less. It was this, or extinction.   By a miracle the stones needed were acquired after some time, and a plan was created to close the portal. A division of Brisit’s best troops were selected to provide protection as Osonia and her mages attempted the ritual to close the portal. While the mission was successful, Osonia was unable to teleport the remaining troops out in her weakened state. She left with Brisit and the mages only, leaving the rest to die. But the portal was closed.   Osonia fought during the Push, an attempt to contain the enemy inside the wastes. While successful in the end, the war was not finished. Inside the Risen Peaks there were still countless monstrosities that could not stay.   Osonia returned to the labs at Ridweth, this time delving deep into dark arts. She figured that if they could replicate the cataclysm of fire that brought in the Great Old Ones forces they could cleanse the wastes once and for all. During this time a magical prison was created in the wastes to contain the Great Old One. This dimensional prison took years to build, but the trapped enemy was unable to prevent its construction.   When Osonia succeeded in her research and the prison was built, the plan was put into action. On a full moon Osonia unleashed hellfire over the Wastes. The dark act turned the moon a blood red, and the event was known as the Crimson Eclipse. Although it did eliminate many of the enemy, some remained. But the Great Old One was contained.   After the war Osonia served as headmaster of Ridweth until her retirement. She is buried in the Headmaster’s gardens.
