Fezora Paxim Character in Asteria | World Anvil

Fezora Paxim

Fezora Paxim (a.k.a. FeeFee)

You! New Blood! Come ‘ere and let me read ya bones.

Across the deck, a young woman beckons over a greenhorn. The man approaches, hesitant but curious.

Yu’ know da bones of da sea can see inta ya. Dey can tell ya what’s to come.

A shaking hand holds out a couple of small sea creature bones to the greenhorn. He takes them, looking at them cloesly.

What ya think ya doin’?? Throw ‘em! Onto da deck.

A pause, before the bones clatter to the wood scattering across the ground.

You see. I am from ‘dis land. My people live ‘ere before recorded time. Before magic. Before the monsters of da incursion. And we have ‘oer own traditions rooted in da sea.

The woman bends over, staring at the bones for what feels like minutes. The crew working about the deck seem to be giving the woman a wide berth.

‘Dis two ‘ere. See how ‘ey lie at angles, like so.

She makes the shape of the two bones with her hands, holding it up to the greenhorn.

‘Tis is a good sign. The sign is that of de god you call Jocasta. Balance. ‘Tis a good sign.

Another minute staring at the bones passes, and she continues to point out the meaning of the pile of bones. After a while she pauses.

I see good in ya future on dis boat. But be wary of dis one.

She points to two long thin bones crossed, looking like the mast and boom of a sailboat.

“Tis the symbol of de Silver Sun. De great sailing ship of who you call Joedir. Be wary of the stormy sea, ‘tis Joedir’s wrath you have incurred. People who see ta sails of ‘his great ship don’t live to tell da tale.

The woman pauses, looking deep into the greenhorn’s eyes. She gives a faint smile and holds out her hand.

Fezora. But ‘yu can call me FeeFee. I tink you’ll fit in well.
