The tendrils of the fungus spread through the log

I watched it change every day. It was dust and dirt all along.

I thought I would be distressed being surrounded by rot.

But I see it now as a natural process, like it or not.

The spores are quite dense but I have my mask.

Things are a little foggy now but my shift is almost done, I'm at the end of my task.

It helps to make words rhyme.

The rot is nice but here comes my replacement. It's about time!

Ezra's Work Journal

by Protector Ezra

Entry 9

Attribution: Protector Ezra

Age Estimate: 2 weeks

Report, Military

Background: Work journals are required of members of the Expeditionary Force sent to The Grove. They have secured an underground cavern that is the home of an ancient creature. A Myconid that calls itself The Grove. It's fruiting bodies are sentient vaguely humanoid forms that help it process food and gather resources. It is adamantly nonviolent and with recent threats Etonia has sent the Expeditionary Force to prevent it from being damaged. Protector Ezra is one of the knights stationed at The Grove. All the knights are required to keep a log of their activities on their shift due to the hypnotic effects of the spores. The logs are reviewed by the Protector Lazarus and sent to the library for further analysis.
