Step-by-Step Creation Process

Phase 1: Design

  • Trade (Smithing) Test (Challenging +0) to design a functional form that balances the sword’s magical properties with durability and to sketch inlays for the rune channel and gem socket on the hilt.
  • Time Unit: Weeks
  • Spend Concentration to reduce the Extended Test levels in Phase 3.
 

Phase 2: Material Acquisition

  • Most ingredients must be acquired through quests or trade. See Quest Hooks below.

Phase 3: Crafting the Blade

  • Requires a forge blessed by Khuros or another light-aspected celestial.
  • Extended Test: Trade (Smithing), Difficulty: Difficult (-10), Successes Needed: 6 (before concentration reduction)
  • Time Unit: Weeks
  • Failing a test wastes a week and risks damaging rare components.
 

Phase 4: Enchantment Embedding

  • Sunfire Topaz: Set using a Challenging (+0) Trade (Gemcutting) or Lore (Magic).
  • Rune of Flames: Inlaid into the fuller of the blade via Trade (Runesmith) (Difficult -10).
  • Inscription of Wrath: Carved along the inside of the guard using Trade (Calligrapher) or Lore (Magic).
  • Ritual blessing under sunlight must occur for final attunement.
