Maelstrom
The Maelstrom is a permenant whirlpool between the northernmost of the Dragonshome Islands, Vóreio nisí, and the Jotunheimen Range
The area is easily passible in the spring and fall months.
During the winter, at conjunctions of the moons the vortex swells and becomes nearly impassable. Running the maw at midsummer is a feat of legend.
Geography
The maelstrom at its smallest is nearly 75 miles across. The largest on record stretched nearly 200 miles wide from the southern tip of the Jotunheimen Range to the northern tip of Vóreio nisí.
