Uumbuka (OOM-BOO-KUH)

An interesting plant that appears to be a wilted and withered bush, this crackly brown vegetation actually serves a vital purpose: it soaks up liquid from the atmosphere at a rapid pace. It thrives in the nation of Miliim where rainfall is abundant, preventing valleys in the region from flooding. Uumbuka are easily confused with dead bushes. The stems are a brown with white dots. The stems also have many small thorns. When the plant takes in large amounts of water the stem will swell and the false thorns will grow into pointed orange leaves. These leaves are edible. Leaves that are knocked off will grow into new plants. While the plant is full of water nothing harvested from the plant will have any magical properties. Once the water in the environment lessens the water will be released through the small holes in the stem. At first, the plant was thought to have no magical properties, but the old mage @Norran eventually discovered it could be used to improve—or even alter—memory. Because the plant is incredibly dry and withered, it takes a tremendous amount of it to create even a drop of oil, making it a rather expensive alchemical ingredient.
