The Phaendar League Organization in The Chronicles of Evalaw | World Anvil

The Phaendar League

The Phaendar League is one of Evalaws most ancient and venerable alliance. A treaty brokered under the 2113 ED. The Sapphire Isle Concordat. between several Aelfaune provinces in the south of the continent of Lorthwyn. Representing the interests of the Sídhenian, Ishaanrii and Nimarian peoples and safeguarding their lands, provinces and cultures from being enveloped by the Aurloriens holy mission. The leagues original conception was to prevent another great war from ravaging Lorthwyn by establishing an effective counter balance on the continent. The league was originally brought together by the Ishaanrii Queen Alyndra Lithan'luel, aware of the growing ambitions of Aurelion and the divine plan of The Sunburst Sepulchre; to bring enlightenment and indoctrinate all Aelfaune under the influence at the total disregarding any form of laws or sovereignty.   As the centuries have passed, countless treaties and campaigning have managed to unite many of the Aelfaune peoples under the Phaendar league, named so after the city of Phaendar where the league was agreed upon by the leaders of these three peoples. Establishing a true with the allusive Syvanian of the woodland realms and more controversially forming assurances with their estranged kin Baus'quie to the north in the aftermath of the third great elven war. All of this achieved since the League fell under the sway of the Ivory tower of Indoral and the Imperators of Empyria, increasingly developed into an integral power in its own right to combat the vaulted ambition of the Aurelion.   As it stands in the current Era 5226 TW. the Aelfaune people stand on the brink of a fifth great war, with the Phaendar League and its allies having fortified their borders and limiting Aurlion access and Sepulchre activities throughout the rest of Lorthwyn. Recently, the Sepulchre has turned its attentions away from Lorthwyn toward Illaria and the kingdoms of men, in an attempt to build relations with mankind and establish religious ties with The Church of the One. In response, the Phaendar League has dispatched ambassadors and established trade links ending the leagues centuries long isolationist policy, much to the duress of many of its members seeing nothing good coming of becoming involved in the affairs of Illaria.

Organisation structure;

  In addition of being a military alliance, the Phaendar League developed into a confederal system, forming a legislative assembly of distinguished figure heads of the members of the alliance, with one member leading the assembly, upon its inception this position was filled by Queen Alyndra Lithan'luel, the founder of the League. The councils role is to vote upon legislations and issues that face the League, it's members taking on particular roles and responsibilities that pertain the League's administration and functionality. Powers that the assembly hold grew over the centuries, regulatory, tax and judicial powers were developed to develop some form of centralisation and homogeneity between its members establishing standardised coinage, trade laws and a standing military coalition.   Unification under the league has by no means been a seamless process, many internal issues and concerns have arose throughout its history amongst its members regarding its authority over their sovereignty. Initially the League had little to do with confederal affairs of its members, however famines, plague and natural disasters led to these confederate support structures to be established, particularly when it comes is issues concerning Aurlion aggression. And whilst the League's fundemenatl goal is to preserve and uphold the independence of its members from exterior forces. The longer the League has remained, the more it's members have become completely reliant upon one another economically.
