Firefur Species in The Garden that Burned | World Anvil

Firefur

Brief Overview

The Firefur is a common household pet in Valkour. Because of their small size, the Firefurs don't increase a Valkorri temperature enough to increase their core temperature, allowing them to be safely viewed as sweet little house pets.

General Overview

They have a ferret head and a body with eight legs, four on either side. Firefurs are completely wreathed in fire, and they leave little flaming footprints wherever they tread. The Valkorri find this cute, and will often tame them as pets. In the right environment, these creatures are little to no threat as long as those who come across them aren't afraid of fire, however, in forests and other flammable environments they can be extremely hazardous, so their migratory patterns are heavily monitored by the A.P.A (Animal Protection Agency). They are commonly found in Valkour, and around the The Red Desert.

Basic Information

Genetics and Reproduction

A Firefur gives natural birth and throws anywhere between 3-6 kits a litter.

Growth Rate & Stages

It takes around 4 years for a Firefur to mature, and on average their lifespan is 20-25 years.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are strict carnivores, however, the Firefur will use its Pyromancy to "over-cook" their prey. This is because though they are carnivorous, their body requires an unusual amount of char/coal. They will also eat the coals from a freshly used fire pit or fireplace.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Many try to use their flaming coat as a cold resistant additive to the gear of any adventurer who is thinking of braving Tundarus. If the flames are put out the hide instead serves as fire resistant.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

The Firefurs are capable of using Pyromancy, the art of manipulating the element fire. They manipulate their coat to flare up and burn any potential predators.
