Marble Palace
The Marble Palace is the primary residence for the royal family of the Guadalupe Commonwealth, as well as the main seat of power for the nation’s government in general.
Located in the capital city of Santa Maria on the planet Guadalupe, the palace sits on its generally-rectangular royal grounds, full of tall leafy trees and perfectly-maintained green grass. As befits its name, the palace's facade is gleaming white marble, manufactured artificially for its construction. A low-set structure compared to the city's skyscrapers, the palace nonetheless maintains its majesty by this styling and its central location atop an artificial hill.
The structure itself is mostly rectangular, with a central courtyard and four main stories, and has architecture reminiscent of the ancient noble mansions and palaces found on the continent of Yurop before Terra's Industrial World Wars. A few satellite buildings jut out from the palace, such as chapels, dining rooms, and garages. Inside are a dizzying array of rooms for various purposes. Some of the most important areas within the palace include the throne room, where the reigning monarch can hold court, several dining rooms and ballrooms, and the royal family residence areas on the upper floors. Many rooms are decorated with paintings and other artifacts and works of art, some dating back to before the End of Earth.
In addition to being the Montoya family’s primary residence, the Marble Palace is also the seat of government for the King or Queen and thus for the whole Commonwealth in general—while there are other buildings for various ministries and government functions, political power ultimately rests with the monarch. The current king, Dom Francisco, will often invite members of the nobility and other political figures to the palace for meetings and ceremonies. Additionally, the palace has an impressive array of banquets, balls, presentations, and other such events which occur throughout the year.
