Technological relics, artifacts, and knowledge from now-dead civilizations. While as a technical term it includes any technology no matter how primitive (such as that of the Polganite Forerunners), in popular use it is ususally taken to mean alien technology superior to that of any extant civilization today—the most interesting type, after all.
