Shelder Evolution (series)

manuscript

Telescript series
Humans trying to colonize planet Shelder implant the local dinosaur-like fauna with A.I. chips to help domesticate them - what could go wrong?

SCOPE

MOTIVATION

Shelder is my childhood project. It's the go-to place for most of my fiction, games, doodles... It's... a Sanctuary. But also a sandbox for exploring every idea, theme, scenario...

GOAL

Satisfaction, of course. The primary objective is the satisfaction of hunger for worldbuilding itself. I could just keep adding and fleshing and it could be an activity to itself. The rest is really there to justify compulsive incurable worldbuilders' disease. However, there is a secondary, almost equally important objective of creating rich stories and games.

HOOK

Shelder is both grounded in realism and plausibly fantastic, a pristine wild world with incredible fauna, complex geography, and rich history and potential. It just feels so real, like it could actually happen one day.

Themes

Nature VS Humans

Does nature always win? Can Humans find any level of harmony with nature? How will they adapt to a world where most fauna is so strong and wild?

Native vs alien

Shelder belongs to its natives, and the most prominent lifeforms are Sheldosaurs. Will Humans aka "the Aliens" manage to integrate?

Ecologists VS Industrialists.

Ecologists want to respect nature and keep impact footprint as low as possible, at the cost of human comfort and safety. Industrialists want to improve human quality of life and safety at the cost of nature impact footprint.

Love for nature VS love for society.

Who has the strongest argument? Which side will prevail? Can they find a common ground?

Pro-AI VS Anti-AI VS Ecologists.

Pro-AI (Blues) want to preserve the original colonization plan dictated by MAGPIE and are compliant with its directives. OBEDIENT.

Anti-AI (Reds) want to take over the original colonization plan dictated by MAGPIE by maximizing industry and acquiring full independence. REBEL.

Ecologists (Green) want to break free of any plan and just adapt to nature by keeping a low profile and conduct as full a life as possible. NOMAD/TRIBAL.

Blues disagree with both Reds and Greens on breaking free from AI. They hate Reds because of their rebellious ideology, and sympathize with Greens on respecting nature.

Reds disagree with both Blues and Greens on nature-first ideology. They hate Blues because of their loyalty to MAGPIE, and sympathize with Greens on the need for independence.

Greens disagree with both Blues and Reds on the need for a stable industrialized colony. They hate Reds for their disrespect of nature, and sympathize with Blues on the respect for nature.

Structure

Exposition

Gardia

Colony#0 - Gardia has preceded Hastral by an undefined number of years. Ori and Oshiro are unaware of this: The Gardians aren't in contact with the Venture anymore and are living as tribals on the surface after their colony became unstable and revolted against MAGPIE.

Alow

Colony#2 - Alow will succeed Hastral after it becomes compromised. They will do their own thing, ignoring the existence of either Gardia or Hastral.

Sheldosaurs

Big fauna pose several obstacles to colonization.
