Craft a bright new world, in Ayun Sovos!

Nihiaki

We spent a lot of time looking out at that lake. So many nights, watching the moon rise over the distant treeline and reflect on the water. I'd live on those forest trails, if I could.

Nihiaki is a region of open prairies, grand forests, and stunning lakeside views.

Prairies to Clear Waters

Nihiaki is a region bordering Brightfield, easily reached by following the northeastern roadways. As the farmlands of Brightfield melt away, wild open prairies take their place, some lightly wooded, offering ample space for camps and temporary settlement upon agreeable land. Farther north, the light tree cover scattered across the prairie begins to appear in progressively larger clumps until they meet as woodland, and onto forest.

Part Time Nomads

The denizens of Nihiaki's southern lands, primarily the prairies and light woodlands, live semi-nomadic lives, following the availability of local resources and common food sources. This is most common with self-sufficient people, who find themselves relying on the lands around them to support their settlements and communities. Increased traffic to Brightfield has brought more trade to Nihiaki, permitting some settlements to remain populated year-round.
Some of these nomads, however, follow the natural changes in the environment that come with the changing of the seasons, such as shifting wetlands and large temperature changes. Some lands flood, causing certain populations to move away and others to take their place. Come the next shift, these populations switch back to their original homes.

Forested Wonders

Some of Nihiaki's forests developed over time to be incredibly dense, opening the possibility for large populations of Strygi to take up residence among the trees, in addition to other birdfolk native to the region. The local strygi prefer to live topside, in treetop homes built among the branches of the great pines and other conifers that make up the upper canopies.   Other birdfolk actually prefer life on the ground, crafting their homes from the fallen branches, often taking discard from the topside settlements as they remove branches during lateral expansion. These grounded homes are often shared with frogfolk and turtlefolk who enjoy the benefit of the nearby marshlands, which often extend into the forests as the seasons change.

Life on the Water

Along the northeastern border of Nihiaki is Lake Gami, an immense body of water fed by the Sotai River and surrounded by freshwater marshes.   These marshes are home to the Nihi Mustaia, who settled and formed the region's lakeside capital, Shidena.

Taking a Swim

Water-loving denizens of Ayun Sovos make their homes in Shidena's northern districts, where many structures are set upon floating platforms or natural structures — some of which are a swim away.   Hope you enjoy a dip in the lake for shopping!
