Nana Liliwen and her little ducklings, as well as
Farmer Emrys and their family of pumpkin farmers.
Anseni Cuisine
Much anseni cuisine revolves around aquatic ingredients, ranging from algae and water plants, to seafood, primarily of the freshwater variety. Beetles make their way into a lot of main meals
(on purpose, of course. They don't just wander in... well, maybe sometimes they might, but it's just bonus protein), in addition to an assortment of wild seeds that add texture and subtle flavors to all kinds of culinary creations in anseni kitchens.
Masters of (Pie)Craft
The anseni of
Brightfield, in particular, are well known for their passionate devotion to the art of piecraft, going the extra mile to grow their own ingredients for the best homemade pies, both sweet and savory!
Anseni Pumpkin Pie is sought after by many adventurers who pass through Brightfield, and the locals are all but thrilled to invite visitors to share with.
They have gone so far as to breed a special type of pumpkin ideal for the role, they refer to simply as
dessert pumpkins. These more oblong gourds are delightfully sweet and perfect for desserts — but are much too firm for casual snacking while raw. This was the product of much labor from the family of
Farmer Emrys, who is now the most skilled farmer of this variant of pumpkin in Brightfield!
On the Go
Anseni
Adventurer's Rations are veggie-packed and paired with mixed seeds and dehydrated insects. A favorite travel treat for anseni adventurers is dehydrated peas; these dried morsels can be eaten as they are for a crunchy snack, or dumped into a bowl of water to rehydrate, for the anseni to chomp on during a restful moment for a satisfying and hydrating treat!
For short travels, where food is less likely to spoil, fresh veggies are a common feature in their packs, as well as the occasional fresh crustacean catch for a great meal. The occasional fish might even find a traveler's pack, but they would have to be very confident in their timeline to bring fresh or cooked fish with them, or else they risk a smelly situation.
I love them. I also love the humour you pack into these articles, and the lighthearted worldbuilding therein. These are always a joy to read.
