General Summary
As the portal closes behind you, you embark on a new city with tones of muted grays and blacks. There is the smell of decay and the sounds of silence surround you. The only color that stands out is the crimson ichor that drips from the palisades that surround the city. Welcome to Death of Innocence...
Following the cervitaur into the portal, Juniper and Zal emerge into another realm of existence known as Hades. Taking in their surroundings they momentarily separate their efforts in search of Adriak. June finds the body of the two cultists who he finds have sacrificed themselves likely in order to offer their life-force to Calliope to assist in healing her. Zal in the meantime found the only person outside in the town's walls. He was a gaunt-looking man with a rat-tail beard with an expression on his face that changed dramatically from apathy to intrigue to madness. Two trembling boxes supposedly holding what the man identified as "larvae" echoed with screams of dismay.
Identifying this place as a possible afterlife for some, Zal did not interfere with the customs or supposed punishments for those trapped on this plane and with the persuasive efforts of June, were able to find the direction that Adriak and his sister had gone. They approach the gates of the town blocked by two four-armed insectoid creatures that asked their business for leaving. Claiming to be disciples of Calliope, they were permitted access into the mist-filled outskirts with a simple warning from the guards, "Keep your emotions in check."
They soon found as they traveled the rocky, chasm-filled plains that the petitioners and lost souls of Hades were attracted to emotions, literally feasting on larvae who screamed in fear and terror that seemed to attract these beings, leaving naught but a husk of a soul behind. They saw ruins in the distance and with no further leads, deciding to investigate.
Meanwhile, tied securely, Adriak roused, gaining composure of himself as his sister sat across from his reading a book while sipping a glass of wine. Pleading with her brother to perform the Rites of Remembrance and offering him an ultimatum; Perform it willingly, or she kills him, absorbs what she called his "fragment of Indryth" and does the Rites herself. Struggling to free himself, Adriak made some headway on his bonds, but it was not left unnoticed to Calliope who then raised her sword in a fashion to strike her brother down once and for all.
