Genasi

Genies are beings of magic and mystery original from the Elemental Planes. These planes of existence are often quite volatile with roaring flames, crushing mountains, endless seas, and razor winds. Whether summoned or seeking refuge, a genie may find itself on the Material Plane of Oryth where they will fancy a mortal they come across. However, the means, the offspring between the two become Genasi, taking the qualities of the elemental plane they originate from.

Of the Air

The air genasi descend from the Djinn. As such, they often have light blue skin, hair, and eyes. There is always a light breeze sweeping by them, waving their hair and clothing. There is often a faint echo in their voices with a slight chill accompanying them. Their attitudes shift with the seasons of Oryth and reflect their surrounding environments from peppy and affectionate in the season of sowing to volatile and cold in the season of rest.

Elemental Power

In the shadows of darkness, the body of a genasi can easily be mistaken as a human, however, their bloodline gives them an elemental aspect to them that ties them to their genie parent.

Of the Earth

Descended from the maleficent dao, the earth genasi tend to be looked upon as inherently evil. However, this is not always the case and can have decent upbringings depending on the other half of their parents. There is an unfortunate number of earth genasi birthed from non-consensual means and are often met with disdain and prejudice because of it. All earth genasi exhibit some control over the earth and most revel in their superiority and power. Their elemental lineage often shows as dust fulling from their bodies or mud clinging to their clothes. They often have rocky exteriors will ruddy brown or stone-gray skin.

Of the Fire

Birth by the Efreet, the fire genasi are often hot-headed and quick to act first and think about their actions later (if at all). Though they often get stereotyped as angry and quick to fits of rage, they are also some of the passionate and romantic people you will ever meet, bestowing many gifts and gestures upon their loved ones. Many fire genasi have bright orange and red hair that flickers like flames voices that tend to crackle with every word and eyes that flash brightly when angered. Many fire genasi will often be accompanied by a smell of brimstone that becomes more pungent based on their temperament or physical exertion.

Of the Water

The genasi of water share the bloodline of the Marid and often take after their chaotic attitude. Water is ever unpredictable and so can be true of these genasi. Their personality often changes with the tides of the seas becoming like calm waters to their allies or like crashing waves onto their enemies. It has been said that the water genasi look as if they had just finished bathing, often having beads of water collecting in their skin and hair. There is always a smell of freshwater or salty brine about them. Water genasi with especially strong blood will look as if their hair is still underwater, floating and swaying as if submerged. Their voice is often similar to that of deep and beautiful hums or crescendoing like that of a mermaid.

Depending on the type of genasi, they can have gray, blue, red, or green skin and every color in between. They often have qualities on their bodies that identify the elemental plane they originate from.

Genasi Names

Genasi do not have a culture of their own due to their conception. Very rarely are two genasi seen in one place and are exceedingly rare on Oryth, even in places of immense magical power such as the continent of Ochrid. They will often grow up taking the name of whichever parent is not the genie and might instead, later on, adopt a nickname to reflect a personal aspect or quality of themselves.
