Martial Arts is a style of fighting used by Wielders to focus their Chakra in situations too dangerous for more meditative practices. Instead, the Wielder uses their combat actions to serve as a somantic ritual to focus themselves by chaining together combat actions and storing the excess energy, essentially converting their movement and stamina into mana to empower the additional effects of their abilities.


This process is not without its risks. This form of wielding often requires the wielder to be in the front lines of combat, and is more susceptible to failure and interuption. It is also costly. Martial Arts wielder's have to consider their health, stamina and mana closely or risk agonizing death. Martial Arts wielding is a an advanced form of wielding and is not recommended for first time players. You've been warned.


When a Martial Arts wielder makes a basic attack with a keyword that overrides strike, they may designate the attack as heavy, or light. Light attacks have -1 Potency and +1 Efficiency, and accrue 2 points of charge. Heavy attacks have +1 Potency -1 Efficiency, and accrue 1 point of charge. Undesignated attacks and abilities that do not override strike do not accrue charge.


Martial Arts wielders gain charge, or build up, with each successful strike. When they wish to use an ability, they may distribute points of charge to modify the abilities output and cost by spending charge points. All Martial Arts abilities must include a keyword that overrides Strike. Charge points do not remain beyond the end of an encounter. Potency gained from charge does not count for the purpose of the calculating cost.


 

Charge points may be spent in the following ways:



  • Breath Reduction:Each point spent in this way increases breath efficiency for the ability by 1.

  • Unerring Strike:For every 2 points spent in this way, add +2 to the CR for the attack roll when activating a mana powered ability.

  • Agile Defense For every 2 points spent this way, increase physical avoidance by 1.

  • Enpowered Ability: For every 3 points spent in this way, increase the potency by 1.

  • Efficient Wielding: For every 3 points spent in this way, increase the efficiency by 1.

  • Synergetic Strike: Every point spent in this way covers 2 Mana, Stamina, or Fade of an abilities cost.
