Eisenwald
Eisenwald is an isolated guild-village nestled beneath the dense shadow of the Eisenwald Forest. Founded by the former hero Godric Dornhelm, it serves as a refuge, starting point, and logistical hub for adventurers seeking glory or redemption.
Life there is generally peaceful, shaped by solidarity and shared experience. Recruits are trained within its walls, veterans find a home there, and the guild always stands ready when danger threatens the surrounding lands.
Demographics
Eisenwald has a small population, primarily human, with a few members of other races. Most come from the Kingdom of Asperia or are former adventurers who settled there after their travels.
Many use their skills to serve travelers or the guild, while others remain active adventurers themselves. Respect is earned through deeds, and each person contributes according to their talents within the close-knit community.
Government
Major decisions are made by Godric Dornhelm von Eisenwald, advised by the veterans of the Eisenwald Guild.
There are no strict laws or local taxes; the village is funded by guild revenue, which also covers the taxes owed to the Kingdom of Asperia. Order is maintained through trust, mutual respect, and each individual’s contribution. Troublemakers are swiftly cast out.
Defences
Eisenwald is protected by two wooden palisades: the main wall surrounds the village’s core, while a second, smaller palisade encloses the Inn of the Soaked Feather, the central hub of recruitment. Basic guard posts are built into the entrances.
Though defense relies primarily on the vigilance and responsiveness of guild guards, the main palisade effectively slows intruders. The nearby guildhall, located just outside the village, also allows for rapid intervention in times of danger.
Industry & Trade
Eisenwald’s economy revolves primarily around guild activity: housing, supplying, and supporting adventurers. The inn, forge, public market, and general store handle most local trade.
The surrounding farmland produces enough to feed the population, with a modest surplus traded for outside goods. The village mainly imports specialized materials, rare equipment, and bulk provisions during times of heavy traffic. It exports little, but remains an important transit point for treasures and goods brought back by adventurers.
Infrastructure
Eisenwald possesses simple yet practical infrastructure. The village center and the Inn of the Soaked Feather, which also serves as the guild’s recruitment center, are both well protected. The Eisenwald Guildhall itself stands apart from the village, on the forest’s edge.
Within the settlement can be found a general store, forge, public market, stable, farmland, and a barracks housing guards affiliated with the guild. A small cemetery holds the graves of fallen adventurers.
Guilds and Factions
The Eisenwald Guild, along with the Inn of the Soaked Feather under its management, are the only major organizations in the village. No other faction exercises direct authority there, though the village remains part of the Kingdom of Asperia.
Some residents and guild members nonetheless maintain ties or affiliations with the kingdom.
History
Eisenwald was founded in the year 5 Post-Apocalypse by Godric Dornhelm von Eisenwald, a legendary former scout. After traveling the world alongside Lysara Voldorn and Eldrin Vorkannis, he laid down his arms to establish an independent guild far from the great powers.
Built beneath the forest of the same name, the village was designed from the beginning as a haven for adventurers: a place of passage, preparation, and rest. Originally little more than an outpost, it gradually grew around the Guild, attracting artisans, recruiters, and veterans seeking stability.
In fifteen years, Eisenwald has become a respected center for those seeking glory, resources, or knowledge. Though discreet, its role in the kingdom’s recovery following the Apocalypse is undeniable.
Tourism
Eisenwald attracts no tourists in the traditional sense. Those who stay there are generally guild adventurers, recruitment candidates, or individuals and organizations seeking the Guild’s aid. Most lodge at the Inn of the Soaked Feather, which also serves as the village’s primary guest lodging.
