Eisenwald's Guild

The Eisenwald Guild is an independent adventuring organization founded by Godric Dornhelm in the year 5 Post-Apo. Operating from the village of Eisenwald, it provides training, contracts, logistical support, and refuge to adventurers from across the Kingdom of Asperia and beyond. Renowned for its reliability, the guild has become one of the region’s most respected institutions for those seeking glory, coin, or redemption through the adventurer’s path.

Structure

The Eisenwald Guild operates under a merit-based hierarchy where rank is earned through proven experience, service, and capability.   Guildmaster
  • Supreme authority of the guild. Oversees all operations, major decisions, and long-term direction of the organization. This position is currently held by Godric Dornhelm von Eisenwald, the founder of the guild.
Veterans
  • Senior and highly experienced guild members entrusted with advising leadership, assisting in strategic decisions and taking the most difficult contracts.
Guild Members
  • Fully accepted adventurers recognized as official members of the Eisenwald Guild, permitted to take contracts and represent the guild abroad.
Recruits
  • Newly accepted or probationary members undergoing training and evaluation before full guild membership, often having to complete a designited mission before being fully accepted.
Support Staff
  • Non-combat personnel including quartermasters, stablehands, cooks, blacksmiths, and logisticians who maintain guild operations.

Culture

The Eisenwald Guild values competence, perseverance, and camaraderie above all else.   Within the guild:
  • Respect is earned through deeds, not title or birth
  • Members are expected to rely on one another in times of hardship
  • Self-improvement and discipline are encouraged at all levels
  • Failure is tolerated, but laziness and cowardice are not
Though disciplined, the guild is not overly rigid. It maintains a culture of practical realism, understanding that adventurers are imperfect people often forged through hardship.   Many members see the guild not merely as an employer, but as a second family.

Public Agenda

The Eisenwald Guild exists to provide structure, support, and purpose to those who walk the path of adventurers.   Its core goals are:
  • To train capable adventurers and prepare them for the dangers of the world
  • To respond to threats facing nearby lands and settlements
  • To provide a central organization through which contracts and services may be offered
  • To give purpose and opportunity to those seeking glory, coin, or redemption
Though not formally aligned with the Kingdom of Asperia’s military or government, the guild has to pay taxes to the kingdom and regularly aids the realm through its actions.

Assets

The Eisenwald Guild possesses considerable resources for an organization of its scale, granting it both operational independence and notable regional influence.   Its assets include:
  • The Eisenwald Guildhall, serving as the organization’s primary headquarters and command center
  • The Inn of the Soaked Feather, used as recruitment center, lodging, and social hub
  • Arms, armor, mounts, and logistical supplies for expeditions
  • Financial reserves generated through contracts, commissions, and guild operations
Most notably, the guild has been entrusted by the Kingdom of Asperia with stewardship over a significant portion of surrounding territory. Though the land remains officially under the crown’s domain, the guild has been granted authority to govern and manage it independently.   This responsibility includes:
  • The village of Eisenwald
  • Large portions of the Eisenwald Forest
  • Oversight of local security, maintenance, and development within the region
This arrangement grants the guild uncommon autonomy compared to most organizations of its kind, effectively allowing it to function as the acting authority over its assigned lands so long as it remains loyal to the kingdom.

History

The Eisenwald Guild was founded by Godric Dornhelm von Eisenwald, a legendary former scout and adventurer, after his retirement from a life of travel and exploration.   Having journeyed alongside renowned companions such as Lysara Voldorn and Eldrin Vorkannis, Godric sought to create an institution that would offer aspiring adventurers the guidance and support he lacked in his youth.   He established both the guild and the village of Eisenwald in the year 5 Post-Apo, choosing the depth of the forest as the site for a refuge far removed from the politics of larger powers.   What began as a modest independent outpost gradually expanded as adventurers, craftsmen, and veterans gathered around the guild’s growing reputation.   Within only fifteen years, the Eisenwald Guild became widely respected as one of the most dependable adventuring institutions in the region, playing a notable role in stabilizing the kingdom’s recovery following the Apocalypse.
