When the elves flocked to the portals of the new Material Plane, the Avariel stepped through onto the frozen peaks of the @feng mountains. They quickly attempted to return home, to go to the feywild, the world that they would know. But the doors were closed, they had no way to return. So, they began to hike, all as a group.
It took them days to make the journey to the smoking mountaintop that they had seen when they first appeared. Over this time, two groups formed. The ones with swords who fought back the wolves and dragons, and the ones who found the paths to ascend. They worked together to make their stand.
When finally they stood over the heat, boiling fire melting the frost from their bones. More than a few felt as though there was no more hope. Stranded here a world away, with no understanding or ways to stave the dismay… One began to stand, and the others began to follow. If they had no more tomorrow, they would see each other as they had before.
One after another jumped towards the flames. And in each of their minds heard the deity exclaim. Above the mountain a constellation appeared, that of the two wings for the people below. Each of the falling found themselves held and lifted by massive wings that sprouted and pulled away from them.
The ones with a blade were stockier and well-built, while the others got great sight and learned their true purpose to fulfill. The groups intermingled and understood, they would be the same and forge their destiny as they should. They found homes in the mountains and formed their clans, religious leaders and war chiefs hand in hand.

Avariel are most commonly found in the Feng Mountains, however, there are tribes across all of the mountain ranges.
