Moonlight Crystal

Mined from Lunara Delves bordering the city of Kharona, moonlight crystals are commonly found in the old caves dug into the mountains that used to form a pass into the mountain kingdom of Baedror. These crystals have different effects depending on where the crystals were mined but mostly, many miners can tell what they are gathering due to the shape. What miners have notices are that the moonlight crystals that give off a glow grow in similar shape to quartz and those that glow and carry an elemental property grow in cubic shapes.   Forming due to the magic of the moon and the conditions of seeping elemental magic swirling through the remnants of the kingdom and its halls, the crystals are known to grow over the course of several months with those deeper, found in more uncomfortable and dangerous situations, being the ones that are the most arcane and valuable.

The Different Crystals

Moonlighters aka Moonlight Crystal

The well-known crystal that gives off light in the darkness. For as long as it was exposed to light of any kind, the crystal will glow for just as long if no light source is available. Depending on the light it absorbed, the crystal can be seen through clothes, but many keep it within a small box if they wish to keep the light from being emitted. The crystal will give off a strange glow when in the presence of divine magic (celestials, clerics and/or paladins channeling magic, and avatars).

Warmlighters aka Warm Moonlight Crystal

When exposed to fire or heat, the crystal will maintain the property and will be warm to the touch for five times longer than that. It will never burn or break even if exposed to high heat and will maintain a moderate temperature that is warm to the touch and hand and never burning. The crystal will glow bright orange when in the presence of elemental magics or elementals.

Waterlighters aka Water Moonlight Crystals

When the crystal makes contact with liquids, it purifies everything. It purifies waters to the point where one can drink from a once muddied cup. If it is not cleansed after each use, by either running it through the fire or leaving it out in the sun to dry, the crystal will began to crack. The crystal will glow a dull blue when in the presence of elemental magics or elementals.

Whisperlighters aka Whisper Moonlight Crystals

One of the rarer crystals which are found closer to the kingdom and are the hardest to mine, grow in a rather odd shape and are taken in whatever form they are in before being sent off to the smiths, apothecaries, and jewlers. As the strangest of the moonlight crystals, its function is still being experimented on. It seems to react to elemental magics in the same as the other crystals but instead of glowing, the crystal seems to whisper as if through the wind.

Uses

Once mined, it is divided up and sent off to different towns whose specialties shape what the crystal is to be used for. When it's not being sent off to a town, it's being sent to the trading posts by the border of the region for trade with those of the Southern Sands.   As for the crystals given and distributed, each can be fashioned into jewelry or also made into adventuring tools like simple nightlights, warming or cooling agents, and interesting liquids (consumable and not).   The items as well as raw material from the region marks the region as a profitable place in the western market and the people of the region know to take care of the mine and do their best not to overmine as well as keep people from entering and disturbing the peace between the elements and the outside world.
